FAQ
I'm new to West Coast Swing. Where do I start?
Start with the Newcomer program: three Fundamentals workshops, Friday 2 pm, Saturday 11 am and Sunday 10 am. The open-level workshops are open to you all weekend too.
When does competition check-in close?
One hour before each contest block. The Competitions page lists every deadline.
How are workshops leveled?
Most workshops are open to every pass holder. Each day also has four restricted workshops: Fundamentals (our Newcomer program, for Newcomers and Novices), Novice only, Intermediate only, and Advanced+ (WSDC Advanced or higher). We check your level against the WSDC registry, and your wristband color gets you into your restricted workshops. Every workshop is 50 minutes.
What is your refund policy?
Full refund minus processing fees until Apr 30, 2027; 50% until Jun 1; no refunds after that. Passes can be transferred to another person for free until Jun 1, 2027.
Who can buy a Junior pass?
Dancers under 18 at the close of the event, matching the WSDC Junior definition. Junior passes are free and need a parent or guardian's consent. The minimum competitor age will be in the contest rules.
What are the All-Star and Champion passes?
Discounted passes for dancers at All-Star level ($89) or Champion level ($49), as shown on their WSDC record. Both include all of your competition entries, including the Champions Jack & Jill on Saturday night. In return, holders compete in the All-American and dance the Pro-Am Jack & Jill prelims with our amateur entrants.
Can I register at the door?
Yes. Day-of passes are $30 more than advance prices. Comp entries at the door are charged at the regular rate, if space allows.
Can I volunteer?
Yes, and we'd love the help. Work about 10 hours of shifts (doors, registration desk, setup or teardown) and your weekend pass is free. You can still take workshops and compete outside your shifts. Sign-ups open with registration.
Code of conduct
We want everyone to feel safe and welcome on and off the floor. Our full code of conduct, with how to report a concern, will be posted here before registration opens.
